Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
At Pixel Plants, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS plant-care game. Pixel Plants is a single-player, offline-first app designed to collect as little data as possible.
2. Information we collect
Local data (stored only on your device):
- Plant data — growth stage, health, and the hidden water and nutrient meters.
- Game progress — last-opened time, owned species, pot, and onboarding completion.
- Your Premium subscription state (none, trial, active, or lapsed), derived from the Apple App Store.
- The name you give your plant.
Anonymous analytics data (via PostHog):
- A random identifier (UUID) generated on your device that is not linked to any personal information.
- In-game usage events — for example, watering or fertilizing your plant, advancing a growth stage, or viewing the premium offer.
- Technical context — app version, iOS version, device model, current species, current stage and health, and subscription state.
- Subscription events — viewing the offer, starting a free trial, and purchase attempts and completions, including which billing period (weekly or yearly) was chosen.
We do not collect personally identifiable information, advertising identifiers (IDFA), or any data that tracks you across other apps and websites. The name you give your plant and any other free text you enter stays on your device and is never sent to us or included in analytics.
3. How we use information
Local data runs the game: it powers the plant simulation, saves your progress, personalizes your experience, and unlocks premium content while your subscription is active. Anonymous analytics help us understand how the game is used, fix bugs, improve onboarding, and decide what to build next. Analytics data is never used for advertising and is never sold to third parties.
4. Information sharing
We share data only with the following service providers:
- Apple Inc. — processes in-app purchases and subscription billing via StoreKit. We never access your payment details.
- RevenueCat, Inc. — manages our subscription entitlements: it tells the app whether your Premium subscription is active. It receives an anonymous subscriber ID it generates on your device, your App Store purchase and renewal data, and basic device and app version information — never your name, email, or payment details. RevenueCat processes this data in the United States on our behalf under a data processing agreement with the transfer safeguards required by the GDPR.
- PostHog — our analytics provider. Data is stored on PostHog's EU Cloud (Frankfurt, Germany) and is GDPR compliant. Only anonymous data is sent.
We do not sell your data or share it with any other third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Analytics and tracking
We identify analytics events only by an anonymous, device-generated UUID. We do not track your activity across other apps or websites, we use no advertising identifiers, and App Tracking Transparency permission is not required. Analytics data is stored in the EU (Frankfurt) and complies with the GDPR.
6. On-device storage and data security
Your game data — plant state, last-played time, owned species, pot, and plant name — is stored locally on your device only. There is no account and no cloud sync. Because everything lives on your device, you stay in control. If you delete the app or wipe your device, this data is lost — your subscription is not affected and can be restored. Purchases and subscription billing are handled by Apple's secure StoreKit framework.
7. Data retention
Local data is retained until you uninstall the app. Anonymous analytics data collected via PostHog is retained for up to 7 years for long-term performance analysis. You may request deletion of your anonymous analytics data at any time by emailing support@builtby.es with your anonymous user ID.
8. International transfers
In-app purchase and subscription transactions are processed by Apple internationally. Subscription entitlement data is processed by RevenueCat in the United States under the transfer safeguards required by the GDPR. Analytics data is stored exclusively in the EU (Frankfurt) and does not leave the EU; it complies with the GDPR.
9. Your rights (GDPR)
- The right to access your anonymous analytics data.
- The right to deletion — email support@builtby.es with your anonymous user ID.
- The right to delete your local data by uninstalling the app.
- The right to object — deletion is available at any time.
10. Subscriptions and purchases
Pixel Plants offers Premium, an auto-renewable subscription (weekly or yearly) that unlocks additional plant species and pots. Billing is handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit, and entitlement checks run through RevenueCat as described in section 4. We never see or store your payment details — the app only records whether your subscription is in a trial, active, or lapsed state. Apple's own privacy policy governs the transaction, and you can manage or cancel the subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings. See our Terms of Service for the subscription terms.
11. Notifications
With your permission, the app sends occasional local notifications to let you know when your plant needs care. These are generated on your device and you can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings.
12. Children's privacy
Our service does not address anyone under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. Because we collect no personal data and require no account, the app is safe for general audiences.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
